This may not look like much, but it's 1C, and that's as cold as we've known so far.
Registering with the town hall isn't going to plan, as the information the consulate/internet gave us is very different, but we're soldiering on.
On Monday afternoon we went into Amsterdam. The train is very easy from Haarlem, every 15 minutes and it takes 20 minutes, 6.20E return. Lots of people, tourists, shops - a step up from our adopted hometown! We had a nice walk around the Jordaan area with it's gorgeous shops and Christmas lights sparkle. Very pretty.
Thank goodness for (free wireless) internet. Google Maps is a lifesaver.
We're obsessed with The Hills. Nuff said.

How are you coping with the cold? It's awful isn't it? Are the thermals helping?
I mainly hated the layering up when you were outside then the stripping off when you'd go inside the overheated shops, restaurants, etc. Are you having the same problem?
Coping pretty well actually, just layering up (4 layers today kept me warm). Shame balaclavas aren't more socially acceptable!
Soup is simply the best way to get through winter. That and lots of blankets. Pretty much any time I'm home, I'm blanketing. It's lovely and cozy.
Are you talking The Hills with LC?
Oh yes. Are you an addict too?
It all sounds wonderful, especially the Christmas lights. I will, one year, spend Christmas in a cold country!
How are you going with the language?
Slightly different to Harl
em in New York!
Yes, I have to admit I love that show. I can't help it!
