An ongoing list of local products we love:
+ Albert Heijn donuts: bought out of a craving for donuts one day, with zero expectations (have you ever been conned into buying Woolworth's donuts? You know what I mean then). They are absolutely delicious. A fluffy, yeasty white bread topped with delicious icing - and surprisingly, white (vanilla) and yellow (a fresh, zingy pineapple with chocolate flakes) are our favourites.
+ Smiths Bugles - Nacho Cheese flavour: these are the most delicious chips we have ever had. Shaped like witches' hats, the seasoning is just right and they are light and crispy. Have considered stockpiling them in case they are ever discontinued.
+ Pickwick's Tea: so many varieties here, and just discovered Turkish Apple, with vanilla, and Indian Spices, with orange, cinnamon and cloves.
+ Danone Activa Muesli Yoghurt - such a good yoghurt, thick, not too sweet, and with bits of muesli on the bottom.
+ Chocolate muffins at Haarlem's Botermarkt (Saturday) - we were walking past as the markets were packing up and saw 'chocolate muffins 50c/8 for 2E'. I don't get the big deal with muffins, usually floury, dry and boring and still packed with fat. These were breathed down. Moist, chocolately, filled with crunchy choc chips, a good 'muffin top'. If you are in the area, you must seek these out.

Could you please send me a nice little tasting hamper?
Mmmmmm, donuts...
Actually it's a donut-free zone around here right now. We had salad EVERY DAY for lunch last week (well, it was only a four day week).
We are eating salads a lot too, but loving it. Salad leaves, tuna, a boiiled egg quartered, tomato, cucumbers, feta (omit for you), some olives, lemon and olive oil. Really good!
Bugles are even better when you stuff them with the special cheesespread they sell at the Albert Heijn! (making it yourself of course is even better!)
OMG we are both squirming here wishing we could try that now! It would be an amazing combination! Next time for sure.
As a child, we used to put the bugles on each of our fingers and pretend they were claws or nails. Always seemed like they tasted better if they were eaten off each finger like that!
Yes we do that with Cheezels - do you have them? They always taste better eaten off the fingers!
